Accommodation
Participants of the National Physicists' Conclave 2024 have the flexibility to choose whether they require accommodation or will make their own arrangements. Here are the details:
With Accommodation Option: For the convenience of our participants, we have made arrangements at HOTEL accommodation near SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur. You can select this option during the registration process. The prices are heavily subsidized, and Two people will share the room. In the case of a triple occupancy room, three people will share. These are decent hotels that provide Breakfast also during their stay.
Without Accommodation Option: If you prefer to find your own accommodation, you are welcome to do so. There are several hotels located near SRM IST, Kattankulathur, where you can book your stay. To assist you in finding suitable accommodation, we have provided a link to a list of nearby hotels. Please visit Accommodation Options Near SRMIST to explore your choices. We strongly suggest you to take a hotel close to the GST road and within 5-10 kms from the SRMIST Campus.
The participants accommodation will be arranged in hotels nearby SRM IST, and guest houses from 06th afternoon (Check-in time 12 noon or 2 p.m.) to 10th afternoon (12 noon or 2 p.m.) (4 nights) February, 2024. Daily transportation will be arranged between Venue and the hotels for all the participants [Morning by 8/8:15 a.m. and evening by 7/7:30 p/m.]
Please note that the choice of accommodation is entirely up to you, and you can select the option [i.e. with our accommodation or your own arrangements] that best suits your preferences and needs. Travel information
REACHING SRM IST
The SRM IST Main Campus (Kattankulathur) is 50 kms from Chennai city on NH 45, and around 25 kms from Chennai Airport. The nearest Bus stop and Railway station is Potheri. The SRM IST is well connected by road, rail and air.
By Rail
Those coming from other states of India by train, should get down at the Chennai Central Station/Egmore Station, come out and cross the high road through the pedestrian subway and reach ‘Park’ suburban metro rail station. Two destination trains are available from Park suburban metro rail station – to (i) Tambaram (TBM) (ii) Chengalpattu (CGL).
(i) If you take the train to Tambaram, then get down at Tambaram and reach the local bus stand there. Take T60 or T60 LSS bus and get down at SRM or Potheri stop. It is a 20 minute travel from Tambaram to reach SRM IST. (Total Travel time from Chennai Central Railway Station will be around One Hour).
(ii) If you take the train to Chengalpattu, you can directly reach Potheri railway station. SRM IST is just opposite to Potheri railway station.
[We suggest you to take Chengalpattu local train, in that case, you don’t need to get down in Tambaram and catch another train/bus to reach SRM]
Train fare is 20/- from Central station.
Taxi is also available. Approximate fare : INR 1800/-
(Ola and Uber may cost less)
By Air
The nearest railway station from the Chennai Airport is Thrisulam, located just opposite the Airport. Get on a train towards Chengalpattu and follow the instructions given in the ‘By Rail’ section above for reaching SRM IST.
